Monroe County Network on Homelessness Awarded Project Homeless Connect (PHC) Grant The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) has granted the Monroe County Network on Homelessness a grant through its Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness fund in order to provide a platform for our areas most vulnerable populations to connect with a variety of local businesses and key human service providers that may be helpful for their emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. Twenty-five area businesses and human service providers will be in attendance to assist the event guests with their need gaps. This years Project Homeless Connect event will take place at St. Joseph s Church, Monroe, on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 from 3:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. The planning partners for this years event include the Monroe County Network on Homelessness, Monroe County Opportunity Program, God Works!, Paulas House, Dept. of Human Services, Family Counseling and Shelter Services, Monroe Community Mental Health Authority, Fairview, Michigan Works! Monroe Service Center , United Way of Monroe County , The Salvation Army, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Transportation to this event is available by calling 241-2775, ext. 220. Resource Advocacy and Home Chore/Home Care The Home Chore Department is now accepting applications from Monroe County seniors who are in need of snow removal assistance. For more information on this service, please contact the Home Chore Department @ 734.241.2775, ext. 204. Senior Tax Credit ( Homestead and Heat) assistance will begin in February, 2009. Please contact the MCOP Resource Department (734.241.2775, ext. 212) for more information and/or to make an appointment for Tax Credit assistance. Medicare D and Social Security Extra Help Application assistance is available to Monroe County seniors. Please contact the MCOP Resource Department to obtain information needed to apply and/or make an appointment.
