








The Home Care Department assists Monroe County seniors and disabled residents with daily tasks such as: Homemaking, personal care, shopping, and meal planning/preparation. Respite care is also available for family caregivers.
MCOP assists Monroe County residents, age 60 and older with filing their Homestead and Heating Tax Credits. Most renters and homeowners will qualify to receive some money back based on what they’ve paid in rent, property taxes or heating costs. For more information, please contact MCOP ext 213.
MCOP receives funds to assist Monroe County residents age 55 and older with minor repairs such as roof and floor repairs, minor furnace repairs, doors and more. For more information please contact MCOP ext 213.
MCOP offers several different programs that may assist with gas (including deliverable fuel) or electric bills. Assistance depends on funding availability and household income. Please contact MCOP ext 213 for more information.
The Specialized Transportation Department provides reliable transportation to non-emergency medical appointments and treatments for senior and non-senior Monroe County residents with disability for a chronic medial condition. Many of the transportation vans are equipped with wheelchair lifts with seating for 6-10 passengers. The programs operate Monday through Friday with morning and afternoon shifts. Resource Advocate Service Coordinators have been trained to assist in applying for Medicaid services such as medical assistance and food stamps. They are also able to assist in finding the best Medicare Part D Prescription Program for Monroe County residents. They are available to answer questions or to help navigate through paperwork.
